The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has released a traffic alert for the Staunton District, detailing road work scheduled to occur between April 14 and April 18, 2025. This district encompasses eleven counties, including Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Highland, Augusta, Rockingham, Page, Shenandoah, Frederick, Clarke, and Warren.

The announcement warns that planned work is subject to change depending on weather conditions and material availability. During mowing operations, drivers are advised to be cautious of slow-moving tractors, while traffic pattern shifts and lane closures are expected in work zones.

For Alleghany County, updates include mobile right shoulder closures on Interstate 64 from mile markers 0 to 41 eastbound for brush cutting, and new right shoulder closures are noted at Exit 14 westbound for sign work. Routine maintenance and inspections are also planned for both primary and secondary roads throughout the county. In Bath County, regular shoulder repairs and pipe cleaning will occur on various primary and secondary routes.

Notable projects in Rockbridge County include new mobile right shoulder closures from mile markers 41 to 55 eastbound on Interstate 64, and new right shoulder closures for northbound sign work at Interstate 81 exits 188B and 195. Various roads in the county will also undergo utility work, necessitating traffic control measures.

Augusta County will see significant traffic adjustments along Interstate 81 due to ongoing construction for the southbound auxiliary lane and other related projects, with multiple lane closures and speed restrictions in effect. In Rockingham County, notable projects include new paving operations on Route 253 and bridge inspections on several secondary roads.
