VDOT announces upcoming roadwork affecting multiple counties

Highway maintenance and construction activities are scheduled to take place across various counties in the Lynchburg district from February 17 to 23, 2025. However, these plans may be affected by weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced several ongoing projects that require road, lane, or structure closures. The department advises motorists to stay informed about traffic conditions by calling 511 or visiting their website.

In Amherst County, crews will engage in district-wide activities such as bridge and guardrail maintenance, surface treatment, and roadside cleanup.

In Appomattox County, Route 613 (Spring Grove Rd.) is closed for a bridge replacement project between Route 647 and Route 608. This closure will last until mid-April 2025.

Halifax County's Route 615 (Dudley Road) is also undergoing a bridge replacement. A detour is currently in place with an expected completion date of April 2025.

In Nelson County, the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad on Route 653 (Wilson Road) remains closed due to replacement work. It is anticipated to reopen in November 2025.

Pittsylvania County is experiencing new road construction on Route 311 (Harville-Saunders Parkway). While the roadway is open, ongoing work may result in shoulder and lane closures until its expected completion on June 16, 2025.

Other counties including Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax (aside from the noted project), Lynchburg City area also have district-wide activities planned without specific closures mentioned at this time.

Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly and remain vigilant for updates on any changes due to weather or other factors affecting these projects.
