Temperatures in the Culpeper District are expected to drop significantly below freezing tonight, with additional snowfall anticipated on Thursday. This weather could impact the morning commute, and drivers are advised to delay travel until conditions improve.

The forecast predicts slightly warmer temperatures in the afternoon, but they will remain at or below freezing levels. Any moisture on the roads may lead to icy conditions that could persist into Friday morning.

Drivers who must travel should exercise caution by driving slowly and maintaining extra distance from other vehicles. Special attention should be given to bridges, ramps, overpasses, and intersections as these areas freeze first. It is important to give Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews ample space to work if encountered.

Before traveling, motorists are encouraged to prepare an emergency car kit and use VA511 for up-to-date road conditions as they can change quickly.
