The exit ramp from the southbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Outer Loop) collector road to Georgetown Pike (Exit 44) in Fairfax, Virginia, will be closed tonight. The closure is scheduled from 10 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, until 5 a.m. the following morning. This temporary closure is necessary for crews to perform preparatory work, including setting concrete barriers for upcoming bridge work as part of the I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) project.
During this period, motorists traveling on the southbound I-495 collector road to Georgetown Pike will need to follow a detour. They should continue south on I-495 general purpose lanes to Exit 46B for Route 123 North, take the exit for I-495 North general purpose lanes, and then proceed north on I-495 general purpose lanes to Exit 44 for Georgetown Pike.
If inclement weather or other delays occur, the work may be rescheduled for Friday night, March 21, or extended further. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and anticipate potential delays when traveling through this area.
