Route 218 in King George and Stafford counties experienced closures due to downed utility lines, according to updates provided on March 16, 2025. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reported that Route 218 (Caledon Road) in King George County was initially closed near Hideaway Court.

At 4:40 p.m., a detour was set up for the closure near Hideaway Court. Motorists were advised to take Lambs Creek Road to Route 3 and then Comorn Road to return to Route 218.

By 3:46 p.m., it was confirmed that Route 218 (White Oak Road) in Stafford County also faced closures between Deacon Road/Cool Springs Road and Town and Country Drive intersections due to similar issues with utility lines.

The VDOT Area Headquarters dispatched crews to manage the situation and establish necessary detours. "Motorists should use the most convenient alternate route," they advised.

Route 218 in King George County reopened by 6:45 p.m., restoring normal traffic flow after addressing the earlier disruptions.
