The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has released a detailed traffic alert for the Fredericksburg District, outlining various construction and maintenance activities scheduled from February 2 to February 8, 2025. The work will impact several counties, including Spotsylvania, Caroline, Essex, Gloucester, King and Queen, King George, Lancaster, Mathews, Northumberland, Richmond County, Stafford County, and Westmoreland.

In Spotsylvania County, construction on Interstate 95 Southbound at Exit 126 involves alternating single lane closures from Sunday to Saturday between 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. The project aims to widen the ramp and add an additional right turn lane onto Route 1 southbound.

Fredericksburg City will see lane closures on Lafayette Boulevard from Monday through Thursday as crews build a shared-use path. Additionally, Route 1 Northbound will experience right turn lane closures throughout the week for road widening projects.

Caroline County will have single lane closures on Route 2/Route 301 as crews install raised pavement markers. Similar work is scheduled in Essex County along Route 360.

In Gloucester County and Mathews County, mobile operations with flagging are planned for thermo pavement marking eradication as part of the cape seal road resurfacing process. This work affects several routes across both counties.

King William County's Route 360 Eastbound will undergo bridge repairs with alternating lane closures during weekdays and overnight hours. Meanwhile, King George County's Route 3 Westbound will have alternating lane closures for pavement marking work.

Lancaster County will conduct guardrail work on eastbound Route 3 near Route 819 under flagger direction during weekdays. Pavement marking eradication is also planned across various routes in Northumberland and Richmond Counties.

Spotsylvania Parkway will see alternating single lane closures as crews install a rectangular rapid flashing beacon between two subdivisions along Southpoint Parkway. Additional patching work is scheduled across several roads in the county.

Stafford County plans intermittent right lane closures on northbound and southbound Route 17 for fiber installation under permit conditions.

VDOT advises motorists to remain vigilant while traveling through these areas due to potential delays caused by ongoing construction activities.
