Clark BeCraft

Clark BeCraft

Coordinator of Virginia Western’s Horticulture Program and Community Arboretum, shows high school students examples of cuttings that Virginia Western students are using to propagate plants in the College’s greenhouse. BeCraft spoke about plant propagation and sustainability in a workshop that was part of the Earth Summit hosted by the Clean Valley Council at Virginia Western on Friday, Nov. 18. BeCraft showed various ways how materials such as construction by-products and coconut fibers are being tested to use in soil, in order to be more sustainable because peat moss is depleting. Students also asked questions about fruit during a demonstration of grafting techniques.
