244,898 Hispanic students enrolled in Virginia in 2023-24 school year

Of the 1,261,962 students enrolled in Virginia schools during the 2023-24 school year, 19.4% identified as Hispanic, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

This represents 244,898 Hispanic students at the time, which is an increase over the year before, when there were 236,791 Hispanic students enrolled.

In Virginia, white students made up the most common ethnic group in schools, representing 44.2% of the student body.

As of November 2023, according to Public School Review, in the 2023-24 school year, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
