Of the 1,261,962 students enrolled in Virginia schools during the 2023-24 school year, 6.9% identified as multiracial, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

This represents 86,673 multiracial students at the time, which is an increase over the year before, when there were 84,342 multiracial students enrolled.

In Virginia, white students made up the most common ethnic group in schools, representing 44.2% of the student body.

As of November 2023, according to Public School Review, in the 2023-24 school year, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
