A new traffic signal is set to be activated on Route 257 (Friedens Church Road) in Rockingham County, near Mount Crawford. According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the signal will begin operating in flash mode on Monday, April 21, and will be fully operational on Monday, April 28. This development affects the intersection of Route 257 and Route 919 (Parsons Street), situated approximately midway between Route 11 (Main Street/Valley Pike) and the Interstate 81 exit 240 interchange.

VDOT advises motorists to be cautious of slowed or stopped vehicles at the newly signalized intersection. Additional construction work at the intersection of Route 257 and the I-81 exit 240 ramps will result in lane and shoulder closures, leading to changes in traffic patterns. Detailed updates on these forthcoming changes will be provided by VDOT ahead of their implementation in summer 2025.
