The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is inviting public feedback on a study aimed at evaluating potential improvements along Langston Boulevard in Arlington. The STARS (Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions) study focuses on a section of Route 29, spanning approximately one mile between North Veitch Street and North Lynn Street.

Langston Boulevard currently handles an average of 12,000 vehicles daily. The speed limit varies within the study area, with a 40 mph limit between North Veitch Street and North Nash Street, and a 30 mph limit from North Nash Street to North Lynn Street.

VDOT is encouraging residents and commuters to participate in an online survey to express their priorities for the corridor. This input will contribute to developing improvement alternatives, which will be presented for further public comment later this year.

The survey, accessible until March 12, includes translation options for Spanish and other languages. Feedback can also be submitted via email to meetingcomments@vdot.virginia.gov or by mail to Ms. Manasi Phadnis at VDOT's Fairfax office.

Completion of the study is anticipated by mid-2026. While STARS studies do not establish construction timelines, they propose improvements that localities may seek funding for in the future.
