Due to emergency repairs on the I-81 southbound bridge over Old Dominion Road in Washington County, there will be a full closure of southbound I-81 overnight. Traffic will be detoured onto Lee Highway between exits 10 and 7.
The closure is necessary for crews to pave a section of the bridge within the I-81 work zone where concrete has significantly deteriorated.
Crews will initiate a left lane closure at 8 p.m. on southbound I-81. A full interstate closure will follow after approximately 10 p.m., when traffic volumes are lower. During this time, traffic will be rerouted from I-81 at exit 10 onto Route 11 westbound (Lee Highway), then onto Old Airport Road to rejoin I-81 at exit 7.
