Highway work in the Lynchburg District will necessitate road, lane, and structure closures from January 27 to February 2, 2025. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced that weather or other issues may cause delays or cancellations. For current updates, residents are advised to call 511 or visit the VDOT website.

Crews will engage in a variety of maintenance activities across the district. These include bridge and guardrail maintenance, brush cutting, pothole repairs, surface treatment operations, mowing, drainage repairs, and roadside cleanup.

In specific locations:

- In Appomattox County, Route 613 (Spring Grove Rd.) will be closed for a bridge replacement from February 10 until mid-April 2025.

- Halifax County's Route 615 (Dudley Road) is closed for a bridge replacement with a detour in place. Completion is expected by April 2025.

- Nelson County's Route 653 (Wilson Road) bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad remains closed with an estimated reopening in November 2025.

- In Pittsylvania County, new road construction on Route 311 (Harville-Saunders Parkway) continues with shoulder and lane closures expected until June 16, 2025.

Residents are reminded that district-wide activities will also occur in Amherst County, Buckingham County, Campbell County, Charlotte County, Cumberland County, Halifax County, Lynchburg City, and Nelson County.

For further details on these projects and others throughout the district during this period of highway work and maintenance activities refer to VDOT’s communication channels.
