The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region Awards 2023 Grants from The Fund for Halifax County
The Fund for Halifax County has awarded grants to two organizations through its 2023 cycle. The Prizery was awarded $3,000 to expand programs for the arts offered to Halifax County students and Patrick Henry Family Services was awarded $1,000 to help families afford counseling services for their children. Patrick Henry Family Services was also awarded an additional $1,095 through the South Boston Medical Fund. The next cycle of online grant applications for The Fund for Halifax County will begin August 1, 2023.
The Community Foundation has awarded more than $40,000 to Halifax County organizations through The Fund for Halifax County, the South Boston Medical Fund, the Gideon Miller Cancer Fund and the Benjamin M. Sugg Fund. These funds were set up by forward thinking Halifax County residents to permanently provide annual funding to Halifax County organizations.
In the most recent strategic plan created by the Board of Directors, The Community Foundation has chosen fund development for Halifax County as an area of focus. Anyone can make donations to these funds to support the growth of grants available for the future.
Checks should be made to The Community Foundation, with the fund of choice specified, and mailed to 541 Loyal Street, Danville, VA 24541 or visit www.cfdrr.org to make an online contribution. Gifts of stock, life insurance, and personal property can be accepted, as well as will bequests.
