Men's Tennis Competes in the Richmond Open at VCU
Graduate students Joseph Brailovsky and Daniel Pellerito led William & Mary at the Richmond Open at VCU over the weekend, going 3-1 at the UTR Tournament.
Brailovsky split his matches in Group 7, picking up a 6-2, 7-5 win over Penn State's Harrison Janes. Moving on to Flight B, he tallied a three-set win, 6-4, 5-7, 10-0, over JMU's Youssef Sadek on Saturday. Brailovsky closed out the tournament with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Matthew Staton on Sunday. He is 4-3 in singles action during the fall.
Pellerito moved his team-leading fall singles mark to 5-2 with the trio of victories over the weekend. He notched a 7-6 (5), 6-1 win over Matthew Staton, splitting his contests in Group 3. Moving into Flight B on Saturday, Pellerito upended Morgan State's Mikeal Carpenter in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8. He wrapped up the weekend with a straight-sets win over Roman Sancilio, 7-5, 6-4.
Graduate student Bill Duo split his matches at the Richmond Open. He downed a pair of VCU opponents, topping Gray Voelzke, 7-5, 6-2, on Saturday and Etienne Marty, 7-6 (7), 6-1, on Sunday. Duo owns three wins during the fall season.
Graduate student Andres Silva and freshmen Daniel Cohen and Albert Hansen posted a singles wins during the event. Silva downed JMU's Julian Lozano, 6-1, 7-6 (1), on Saturday. Cohen and Hansen both notched straight-sets wins over Lynchburg's Juan Borga on Saturday as well.
