Two Former #CAAHoops Players of the Year Set for WNBA Playoffs

Two former Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Players of the Year will be featured in the 2022 WNBA Playoffs. Three-time CAA Player of the Year and two-time WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne leads the Washington Mystics back to the playoffs while reigning back-to-back CAA Player of the Year Jasmine Dickey has reached the playoffs in her rookie season with the Dallas Wings.

Delle Donne and Dickey graduated from the University of Delaware before continuing their professional career in basketball. Delle Donne left the CAA as the conference’s all-time leading scorer (3,039 points) and holds league records in 10 statistical categories. Dickey ranks top ten in league history in career points, career scoring average and career field goals made, in addition to ranking second all-time on the single-game scoring list (52 points).

Delle Donne missed the majority of 2020 and 2021 due to injury after leading the Mystics to the franchise’s first Championship title in 2019. She has bounced back to help Washington to a 22-14 record and the fifth seed in the WNBA Playoffs this season. Delle Donne has started 25 games and leads the Mystics with 17.2 points per game, adding 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 blocks per game in 2022.

Dickey has played limited minutes in her rookie season, appearing in 20 games for the Wings, totaling 22 points, 12 rebounds, four steals, two assists and two blocks. Dallas has earned the sixth seed in the playoffs after posting an 18-18 record this season.

The Dallas Wings will face the Connecticut Suns in a first-round, best-of-three series beginning Thursday at 8:00 p.m., which can be seen on ESPNU and NBA TV. The Washington Mystics also open their first-round series on Thursday, facing the Seattle Storm at 10:00 p.m. on ESPN2.
