Emory & Henry College issued the following announcement on Nov. 12
On November 6 and 7, Emory & Henry and Campus Recreation hosted eleven teams in the Cardinal Collegiate Rugby Conference Tournament, which included colleges from across the state of Virginia. In the first round of the tournament, Emory & Henry beat Roanoke College 58-0. In the championship game, Emory & Henry defeated the College of William & Mary 63-26.
“I’m immensely proud of the Rugby Program on this historic championship run,” says Director of Campus Recreation, Dylan Johnson. “The team has worked incredibly hard and has overcome adversity along the way to get to this point. To win the conference championship for the first time in the program history is a testament to the hard work of Coach O’Neill and every rugby player that has stepped onto the pitch for Emory & Henry.”
E&H senior Harlan Faddis, from Atlanta, Ga., was named player of the match for the championship game.
The team finished the season 8-0 and ranked #17 overall in the Men’s Small College Division of National Collegiate Rugby. With the tournament win, Emory & Henry advances to the regional tournament at the Citadel in Charleston, S.C. on November 20-21
