Part of Route 39 Alternate in Goshen, Rockbridge County, will be closed for maintenance on March 10-11. The closure is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is due to railroad crossing maintenance near the C&O Depot, between Route 39/42 (Virginia Avenue) and Maury River Road. The work is dependent on weather conditions.
Passenger vehicles can use the original Route 39 as a detour, which has a height limit of 11 feet 10 inches. Tractor trailers and taller vehicles must follow alternative routes.
Westbound truck drivers from Lexington should take Route 780 south, Route 850 east, Route 780 south again, Interstate 64 west to exit 29, then Route 42 north to bypass the closure. Eastbound truck drivers from Bath County are advised to take Route 42 south, Interstate 64 east to exit 43, then follow Route 780 north, Route 850 west, and finally Route 780 north.
