The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced the closure of Route 625, also known as Bobs Hole Road, in Middlesex County starting Monday, March 10. This closure is to facilitate the replacement of two large drainage pipes.
The affected section of Bobs Hole Road runs over Mill Creek and will be closed between Route 33 and Route 624 (Regent Road) in the Topping area. The closure is expected to last approximately two weeks.
During this period, crews will remove two culverts beneath the road and install new pipes with concrete headwalls. These new pipes are about 40 feet long with a diameter of 5 feet, matching the size of the existing structures.
To accommodate drivers during the closure, a detour route has been established covering approximately six miles. The detour will guide traffic through Route 624 (Regent Road), Route 622 (Dirt Bridge Road), Route 3 (Greys Point Road), and Route 33 (General Puller Highway).
Message boards have been set up today to inform drivers about the impending road closure. Despite the work being carried out, access to all residential entrances on both sides of the closure will be maintained.
If weather conditions allow, VDOT anticipates reopening Bobs Hole Road by Monday, March 24.
