Route 629, known as Walkerton Road, is currently closed in King and Queen County due to emergency bridge rail repairs. The closure follows damage caused by a vehicle crash earlier today at the bridge over Walkerton Creek.

Repair crews are working to fix the damaged section of the bridge rail. The repair work is expected to continue on Thursday, February 13, and Friday, February 14. The road is anticipated to reopen at the bridge by Friday. Motorists can check for updates on Route 629's status through 511Virginia.

To assist drivers during the closure, signs have been posted to direct them along a recommended detour route via Route 634 (Canterbury Road), Route 636 (Minter Lane), and Route 633 (Rose Mount Road).

According to a VDOT traffic count, Walkerton Road typically sees an average of 880 vehicles per day.
