The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has released a traffic alert for the Staunton District, covering February 10 to 14, 2025. This district includes 11 counties from the Alleghany Highlands to the northern Shenandoah Valley: Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Highland, Augusta, Rockingham, Page, Shenandoah, Frederick, Clarke and Warren.

VDOT warns that scheduled work may change due to weather conditions and material availability. Motorists should be cautious of slow-moving tractors during mowing operations and remain alert in work zones for changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

In Alleghany County on Interstate 64 westbound, there will be a right shoulder closure for tree trimming from mile marker 41 to 0 between Wednesday and Friday. Additionally, an overnight right lane closure is scheduled for cleanup operations between mile markers 15 and 14 on Thursday night.

Bath County's Route 39 will see flagger traffic control between Routes 688 and 690 for rock and soil testing throughout the week.

Rockbridge County will have right shoulder closures on Interstate 64 westbound between mile markers 54 and 53 on Monday.

In Augusta County on Interstate 81 northbound and southbound from mile marker 220 to 222, shoulder closures are ongoing as part of a bridge replacement project expected to finish by summer of next year. A work zone speed limit of sixty miles per hour is enforced.

Rockingham County will experience construction-related shoulder closures along ramps at Exit 240 on Interstate 81 through July. On Route 33 (Rawley Pike), flagger traffic control will manage paving activities related to road widening until May next year.

Page County motorists can expect mobile traffic control for mowing operations across various roads during weekdays.

Shenandoah County's Interstate-81 northbound and southbound lanes will undergo single-lane closures overnight this week for bridge inspections from mile marker range of two hundred eighty-six to two hundred ninety-two.

Frederick County's Route eleven (Martinsburg Pike) faces overnight alternating lane closures between Routes six hundred sixty-four (Stephenson Road) and eight hundred thirty-seven (Ebert Road) from Monday through Thursday nights due to rock-and-soil testing requirements.
