The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced a series of scheduled road closures and lane restrictions in the Hampton Roads area for the week of February 9-15, 2025. These closures are part of ongoing maintenance and construction efforts across various interstates, bridges, and tunnels in the region.
Among the notable closures, single-lane closures will occur on the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (I-64) westbound from February 10-11 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Additionally, on the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel (I-664), there will be single-lane closures northbound on February 7 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., with further closures in both directions from February 10-13 during nighttime hours.
For those traveling over the James River Bridge on Route 17, southbound lanes will experience single-lane closures on multiple days throughout the week. Similarly, mobile alternating lane closures are scheduled for both directions on February 12 and for northbound traffic from February 12-13.
Motorists using the George P. Coleman Bridge on Route 17 should expect mobile alternating lane closures in both directions on February 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., while similar disruptions are planned for Berkley Bridge (I-264) during evening hours on February 10-11.
For updates regarding maintenance schedules at Elizabeth River Tunnels or information about other major projects like HRBT Expansion Project or Hampton Roads Express Lanes (HREL), VDOT advises visiting their respective websites.
In James City County, I-64 will see single-lane closures in both directions between Old Stage Road (exit 227) and Route199/Newman Road (exit234). A full closure is also scheduled for I-64 east ramps at Croaker Road (exit231).
The HREL Norfolk project involves several off-ramp and full ramp closures affecting routes like Tidewater Drive and Granby Street throughout the week.
