Prince William County voters will soon go to the polls | The platform X
Kelly McGinn, a resident of Prince William County in Virginia, is encouraging fellow voters to consider the positions of those running in the state's local elections. McGinn, a pro-life Catholic, emphasized her support for pro-life candidates and the importance of voting for individuals, who will uphold the dignity of every human life.
In a statement, McGinn highlighted the lessons learned during the pandemic, stating, "our civil rights cannot be taken for granted and we need to work to elect the very best men and women among us to govern for the sake of our families, our neighbors, and our future." She urged voters to do their homework and vote for candidates who pledge to protect the unborn.
McGinn expressed concern about pro-abortion groups working to elect extreme candidates who support abortion until the moment of birth. She emphasized the duty of Catholics to build a culture of life and stated that one of the most important ways to do so is by electing pro-life candidates who will fight for the human dignity of all people, especially the most vulnerable.
It is worth noting that during off-year elections, every seat in the Virginia Senate, House of Delegates, and Prince William County Board of Supervisors is on the ballot. McGinn emphasized the impact of these elected officials on important issues such as tax rates, curriculum quality in schools, and neighborhood safety.
Citing Bishop Burbidge, McGinn highlighted the duty of Catholics to vote and the importance of gratitude and charity towards one's country. Bishop Burbidge stated that "the preeminent civil rights issue of our time is abortion" and called on pro-life Catholics to spread the pro-life message and encourage early voting.
According to an NBC News article, abortion is a key issue in the upcoming local elections in Virginia. Gov. Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, supports a 15-week ban on abortion with exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother. Democrats have been running television ads accusing Youngkin and Republicans of wanting to ban abortion and jail OB-GYNs. The issue of abortion and the positions of candidates on this issue have become central to the campaign.
