18

Colonial Athletic Association issued the following announcement on Nov. 19

Wins by Northeastern and James Madison improved Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball to 5-1 against the Atlantic 10 this year, while Hofstra and Towson took Big Ten and ACC opponents to the closing seconds before being held off on the road.

Northeastern 71, Duquesne 55 | Box Score

Northeastern shot 60% from the field while limiting Duquesne to 31% in its Paradise Jam opener in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Shaquille Walters recorded a season-high 21 points and Vito Cubrilo added 11 points and three steals for the Huskies, who have allowed 51.5 points per game over their last two. Northeastern is back in action in the Caribbean on Sunday with a game against Southern Illinois (8 p.m., ESPN3).

James Madison 67, George Mason 64 | Box Score

Vado Morse hit a go-ahead three with 29 seconds to play and teamed up with Takal Molson to sink all four game-sealing free throws as the Dukes improved to 4-0. Molson scored a team-high 19 points for JMU as the Dukes held off a familiar foe that knocked down 12 three-pointers. The Dukes have defeated their first three D1 opponents of the season for the first time since 1999-2000. James Madison will travel to Naples, Florida, to open its multi-team event Monday against Kent State (12 p.m, FloHoops).

No. 20 Maryland 69, Hofstra 67 | Box Score

Hofstra led a top-25 team in the final minute for the second time this season, but a blocked attempt at a game-winner and subsequent foul allowed the Terrapins to escape in College Park. Jalen Ray led Hofstra with 18 points, while Aaron Estrada added 12 points and nine rebounds for a Pride squad that played a guard-heavy lineup and limited Maryland to 5-of-22 (23%) from three. Hofstra is back in action Monday at Richmond (7 p.m., ESPN+).

Pitt 63, Towson 59 | Box Score

ACC member Pitt survived a scare from a CAA opponent for the second time in four days, as Towson led for 33 minutes before the Panthers emerged victorious in Western Pennsylvania. Cameron Holden contributed 25 points and seven rebounds for the Tigers, who were even on the glass against a power conference opponent and limited themselves to eight turnovers. Towson will return home to host Penn in a Tuesday matinee (2 p.m., FloHoops).

Ole Miss 74, Elon 56 | Box Score

Darius Burford led the Phoenix with 16 points and Zac Ervin added 13 on a night in which the remaining three members of the Phoenix’s top five scorers were held to a combined four points. Hunter Woods found a way to contribute on the glass, grabbing a game-high eight rebounds against the SEC opponent in the Charleston Classic. Elon will close out the event Sunday morning against Temple (10:30 a.m., ESPN3).
