Facebook Chairman and founder Mark Zuckerberg paid millions for Democrat operatives to manage ballot-counting operations in six of Virginia’s largest suburban counties and independent cities in 2020.
And Joe Biden won the six by a collective 557,321 votes, 33 percent more than Democrat margins in 2016 and more than double Barack Obama’s then-record 2012 margins, according to an analysis of Virginia Department of Elections data by Old Dominion News.
Zuckerberg spent a reported $3.3 million to fund Democrat ballot counters in the six, including Fairfax (251,542 vote margin for Biden), Arlington (83,026), Loudon (56,284), Prince William (61,241) and Henrico (53,132) counties and the independent city of Alexandria (51,696).
Biden lost Virginia’s other 129 counties and independent cities by a collective 106,000 votes.
Statewide, Biden more than doubled Clinton’s margin of victory over Donald Trump, winning by 451,138 in 2020 versus 192,987 in 2016.
The six Virginia suburban counties and independent cities analyzed have combined to add 265,189 more Democrat Presidential votes between 2012 and 2020.
Fairfax County added 104,670 Democrat Presidential votes between 2012 and 2020.
Loudon County added 55,893, Prince William County added 39,532, Henrico County 26,978 and Arlington County 24,075.
The independent city of Alexandria has added 14,041.
The same six have saw 39,305 fewer GOP Presidential votes over the same span, for a net 2012 to 2020 Republican-to-Democrat shift of 304,494.
Mitt Romney received 481,695 votes in the six in 2012. Donald Trump received 392,708 in 2016 and 432,013 in 2020.
That’s compared to 724,145 for Barack Obama, 812,265 for Hillary Clinton and 989,334 for Joe Biden.
According to a May report by the Capital Research Center, Zuckerberg spent a total of $3.983 million funding Democrat operatives to work in local Virginia elections offices. The money was funneled through a Chicago-based non-profit called the Center for Technology in Civic Life (CTCL).
All told, Zuckerberg gave $350 million to CTCL, which then made "grants" to thousands of local election clerks, who were expected to use the funds to hire staff to count mail-in ballots.
Left over Zuckerberg funds for 2021
Virginia's largest county is still spending Zuckerberg-provided funds left over from 2020, according to a grant report filed by its director of elections.
A copy of the "Grant Report" for Fairfax County from Jan 28, 2021 by Gary Scott shows it received $1,430,950 from Zuckerberg and spent $967,294 on "temporary staffing support," $162,615 on equipment, and $54,802 on "voting materials in languages other than English."
Scott also indicated he had $246,239 in left over Zuckerberg money, and asked for an extension to his grant agreement to spend it in 2021.
Scott also told CTCL he'd like to receive its monthly email newsletter "which helps election officials stay current with current election administration stories, technology and best practices."
The Fairfax County Grant report was originally obtained via a Freedom of Information Request (FOIA) by the Virginia Liberty Project.
