Republican U.S. Congressman Ben Cline supports co-caucus Rep. Dan Bishop’s House Resolution that protects workers’ rights.
The Virginia representative co-sponsored Bishop’s H.Res.620 that "reaffirms the importance of states’ Right to Work laws."
“American workers should be free to do their jobs without Democrats forcing them to fund Leftist political causes,” Bishop stated in his press release.
A Right to Work law is that which bars companies and unions to require union membership as a condition of employment.
“My resolution will ensure that it doesn’t happen, protecting workers’ rights across the country,” Bishop said.
Twenty-seven states have implemented these laws. Cline has been vocal about his support for these.
“Today as we celebrate the hardworking labor force in the United States, we also celebrate Right-to-Work laws here in Virginia and across the country, which lead to more opportunities and better jobs for workers,” he tweeted.
Recently, Right to Work laws have been underscored as a marker of economic success. Keystone Today cited an opinion column published by the Observer-Reporter, which remarked that states with Right-to-Work laws appear to be recovering their economies faster than those without.
The column cited an analysis by the Allegheny Institute for Public Policy.
Cline is representing Virginia's 6th Congressional District. He was first elected to Congress in 2018.
To date, H.Res.620 has 45 co-sponsors, according to congress.gov.
