Delegate Kirk Cox (R-Colonial Heights) is finding fault with Gov. Ralph Northam’s vaccine rollout efforts.
Northam said that Virginia will soon have a statewide system that people could use to pre-register for the vaccine.
“We knew vaccines were coming for months,” Cox wrote on Twitter. “Why did the Governor wait until just now to create a statewide vaccine waitlist? And it's still weeks away from being ready! This should've happened in October, not mid-February. Failed leadership.”
Cox had previously commented on Virginia's vaccine rollout after the governor gave an update during his State of the Commonwealth Address.
"The Northam Administration's ability to distribute and administer vaccines has been extremely disappointing. Ranking in the bottom third of states nationally, every state we border is doing a better job than Virginia in administering this life-saving vaccine," Cox said, CBS19 news reported.
The Virginian-Pilot reported that Northam said the state was about to start training 750 new workers to help Virginians with their phone inquiries concerning the vaccines.
“The phone line will then go live and will be available in English and in Spanish,” Northam said. “You can also request a callback in one of six other languages.”
Cox is running for governor in the upcoming Virginia gubernatorial election.
