The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced a bridge maintenance project that will affect Route 3 in Lancaster County. Starting Wednesday, April 9, the bridge over Camps Prong will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

These lane closures will be in effect 24 hours a day and are anticipated to remain until late November 2025. The repair work is part of a larger $3.1 million maintenance initiative aimed at addressing structure scour in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula regions. Scour refers to the erosion of soil around a bridge's foundation, a critical issue that this project seeks to mitigate.

"Message boards will be posted to alert travelers to upcoming work," the department noted. This project is one of several aiming to maintain and improve local infrastructure.

The community can expect to see message boards in the area to inform them of the ongoing work and any necessary adjustments.
