Ferrum College scored twice in the final 12 minutes of play to post a 2-1 comeback field hockey win over visiting Southern Virginia University tonight at W.B. Adams Stadium. The non-conferece game marked the season opener for both schools.

THE BASICS
Following a scoreless first half, the Knights opened scoring when Karenna Olson took a pass from Ellie Marble and beat Ferrum goalkeeper Anna Corsey at the 37:50 mark. The Panthers put pressure on Southern Virginia over the next 10 minutes, with Mackenzie Humphreys poking a shot past SVU goalkeeper Kiera White for an unassisted goal at the 48:39 mark to tie the game.
Humphreys then notched the game-winner at 49:57 off a slick pass across the middle from Brianna Coerper. The win gave Ferrum's Chardonnay Hope her first career victory in her coaching debut.
