Ferrum College fell 6-4, at home in non-conference action tonight to Averett University.

THE BASICS
Averett scored three runs in the first inning from and RBI groundout and a two-run homer by Avery Spicer, to lead 3-0. Ferrum answered back with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the first, Bryce Thacker drove in two runs off a hard hit single that bounced off the third baseman and into the outfield. The Cougars grabbed one more run in the fourth on a single from Preston Robbins, giving them a 4-2 lead.
Ozzie Torres belted a solo homerun to left field, to cut the lead to 4-3. Averett would grab two more runs, one each in the fifth and sixth inning on an RBI single and RBI groundout. Justin Brady drove in the Panthers final run in the eighth on a single to right field.
Bryce Thacker drove in two runs and pitched 2.2 innings for the Panthers in relief during tonight's game with the Cougars.
