Ferrum College Athletics issued the following announcement on March 4
Ferrum College built a 6-1 lead at the break, then hung on for an 8-6 non-conference men's lacrosse win over Averett University this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium.

THE BASICS
Michael Paolicelli and Drew Fedorich spotted Ferrum 2-0 lead nine and a half minutes into the first quarter, with unassisted goals. Ballard Early and Justin Carroll each netted a goal to extend the lead to 4-0 after one.
Carroll added his second goal of the game to open the second quarter and make it a 5-0 lead. Mike Michaud broke up the shutout with a goal at the 3:15 mark of the second for Averett, but Fedorich found the back of the net again, this time just under the two-minute mark, and the Panthers held a 6-1 halftime lead.
Averett outscored Ferrum 2-1 in the third, then used a 3-1 run in the fourth to keep things tight. Liam Taylor had two of the Cougars' final four goals of the game. Early's second goal of the game, at 43:17 of the third quarter, would prove to be the game-winner for Ferrum.
