THE BASICS

The two teams played evenly early on, with Ayden Gamble's three-pointer for the Panthers at 12:32 of the first half knotting the game at 20-20.

The Eagles went on an 11-4 run over the next three minutes to go out in front 31-24. Ferrum battled back with a 20-8 run of its own and took a 44-39 lead on Taqwain Drummond's layup with 1:44 left before halftime. Da'Shawn Cook converted three free throws for Mary Washington to trim Ferrum's lead to 44-42 at the break.

The Eagles scored the first five points of the second half to surge back in front 47-44, then slowly extended the lead to 16 points midway through the period.

Michael Spraggins' dunk at 10:44 stopped the run, and a few minutes later, Spraggins' layup at 8:06 then made it a 70-55 game. That basket proved to be the Panthers' final points of the game, as Mary Washington closed with a 16-0 run.
