A Williamsburg resident, Xavier Joseph Stafford, 22, has been sentenced to five years in prison for distributing obscene visual material depicting the sexual abuse of children. The sentencing took place in Newport News.
Court records state that on February 14 and 15, a police officer contacted Stafford regarding his vehicle being parked on private property in Williamsburg. On February 18, Stafford responded by sending an email to the officer that threatened the officer’s child and referenced knowing the officer’s home address. He then sent another message containing two animated images showing child sexual abuse. The email also included a live photo repeatedly displaying several frames of consecutive images of the officer’s residence.
The announcement was made by Lindsey Halligan, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Dominique Evans, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Norfolk Field Office, following sentencing by U.S. District Judge Arenda Wright Allen.
