William & Mary track and field will participate in the Penn Relays from April 23 to April 25 at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa., according to an announcement on Apr. 22.
The event is significant as it brings together top collegiate athletes for one of the nation’s most historic track and field meets. William & Mary will be represented across a wide range of events, including championship races, relays, and various field competitions.
Competition begins Thursday afternoon with Amelia Bawcombe competing in the women’s hammer throw Championship at 2:00 p.m. Kennedy Reynolds is scheduled for the women’s 400m hurdles Championship at 5:30 p.m., followed by Molly Weithman in the women’s 5000m Championship at 7:45 p.m., and Hayes Trapp in the men’s 10,000m Championship at 10:15 p.m.
On Friday, relay events such as the women’s 4×100 (1:15 p.m.) and women’s 4×400 (7:20 p.m.) are planned alongside individual contests like Brian Walsh in long jump (noon), Raiden Lafortune (javelin, 1:45 p.m.), Elaina Perkins (javelin, 5:15 p.m.), Uriah Harris (shot put, 3:00 p.m.), Leighton McGee (pole vault, 4:00 p.m.), Katriel Amoyaw (high jump, 4:00 p.m.), Kerrigan Kimener and Raina Fitzwater (women’s pole vault,12:30 p.m.), with Bawcombe returning for discus at 3:30 p.m. The men’s distance medley relay is set for Friday as well.
Saturday features additional championships such as the men’s discus with Harris competing at11:30 a.m., men’s4x800 Championship(2:18p .m .), women’s pole vault Championship(Kalli Knott ,2 :30p .m .) ,and women’s4x800(4 :50p .m .).
Recent performances include Tia Taylor posting a time of14.14 seconds in the100 m hurdles finals—sixth all-time for William&Mary—and Reynolds achieving a personal best of1 :00.18 in the400 m hurdles ,moving her to No .2 all-time among program performers.Bawcombe also reset her freshman record with a hammer throw mark of57.90 meters ,ranking third all-time for Tribe performers.Henry Anderson won his heat in1500 m,and Nolan Yeagle finished runner-up during recent meets.
