William & Mary track and field delivered a series of strong performances at the Penn Relays, according to an April 25 announcement. The three-day event at Franklin Field saw athletes set new records and secure several top finishes.
The competition was notable for freshman Amelia Bawcombe, who placed fifth in the women’s hammer throw championship with a mark of 59.38 meters. This result broke her own school freshman record for the third time this season and moved her to second place all-time among performers in program history.
Kennedy Reynolds contributed by finishing second in her heat during the women’s 400-meter hurdles championship with a time of 1:00.73. This performance is now ranked as the fifth-fastest in program history and is Reynolds’ third-best career time. Hayes Trapp also stood out by taking third place in the men’s 10,000-meter championship with a time of 29:21.52.
Relay teams from William & Mary earned high placements as well, including an eighth-place finish in the men’s distance medley relay on Friday, where Henry Anderson, Jeffrey Linton, Nolan Yeagle, and Brendan DiStefano posted a combined time of 9:52.26 against strong competition.
In field events, Uriah Harris secured sixth place in both shot put (17.11 meters) and discus (53.52 meters), while Raiden Lafortune finished fourth in javelin (61.91 meters). Katriel Amoyaw tied for sixth in women’s high jump (1.65 meters), Raina Fitzwater finished among the top five in women’s pole vault (3.75 meters), and Kalli Knott tied for fourth with a clearance of 4.05 meters—the third-best mark ever recorded by a William & Mary athlete.
The team closed out their weekend with another strong relay showing on Saturday, placing tenth overall in the men’s four-by-800 meter Championship of America with Caleb Wilcox, Matthew Twyman, Amberson Bauer, and Jonathan Kumer combining for what is now ranked seventh-best all-time for William & Mary.
Looking ahead, William & Mary will compete again on May 3 at the Duke Twilight meet.
