William & Mary secured two victories over North Carolina A&T on April 26, winning the completion of Saturday’s suspended game 21-7 and following up with a combined shutout in the second game, 9-0, to complete a series sweep.

The results mark significant achievements for the Tribe (19-23, 10-11 Colonial Athletic Association), who set another season-high in runs during the opener and recorded their first shutout of the season in game two. The pitching trio of Owen Pierce, Zach Boyd, and Tom Bourque contributed to holding N.C. A&T scoreless in the second matchup.

In the first game, after falling behind early, William & Mary surged ahead with six runs in the third inning. Witt Scafidi hit a grand slam to left field as part of that rally. Graduate right-hander Zack Potts started for William & Mary and allowed just one earned run across four innings. Louie Bartletti led offensively by going 5-for-5 at bat with four runs scored and four RBI, marking his second career five-hit game.

The offensive momentum continued throughout both games as every Tribe starter recorded at least one hit in game one. In addition to Bartletti’s performance, Sam Kaczmarek had three hits and three RBI while Jamie Laskofski contributed three hits as well.

In game two, Iriotakis opened scoring before Scafidi added a two-RBI single to give William & Mary an early lead. Pitchers Pierce and Boyd combined for five scoreless innings before Bourque finished out the final four frames without allowing any runs or hits while striking out two batters.

With this sweep over N.C. A&T (11-31, 3-18), William & Mary concluded its series record against them at a perfect six wins without defeat this season. The team is scheduled to return home for its next matchup against Elon on Friday.
