Three Virginia Military Institute cadet-athletes received top recognition from the Northeast Conference after a decisive victory over Detroit Mercy, according to an April 27 announcement by the league.

The honors come as VMI secured a spot in the upcoming Northeast Conference Tournament, marking its first postseason appearance in four years. The team’s strong performance was highlighted by freshman Ethan Ostrowski being named both Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week. Senior goalie Adam Norris was selected as Defensive Player of the Week, while sophomore Beau Durkin earned Prime Performer status for his contributions.

Ostrowski scored five goals on nine shot attempts, converting at a rate of 55 percent and collecting two groundballs during VMI’s 14-5 win over Detroit Mercy. Norris made 14 saves during his time in goal, allowing only three goals before being substituted with five minutes remaining in regulation. He also picked up four groundballs.

Durkin contributed a hat trick and one assist for four points in total. He scored on half of his six shots and recorded what became the game-winning goal in the second period.

VMI will enter the NEC Tournament as the fourth seed and is set to face top-seeded Robert Morris on Thursday night at Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
