The Virginia Military Institute men’s track and field team finished the John Weaver Invitational with strong performances on April 25, despite rainy conditions in Boone, North Carolina.

The event was hosted by Appalachian State University and featured athletes from several schools. The VMI team achieved notable results in both track and field events.

Senior Isaiah Blount placed fourth in the discus throw with a distance of 43.16 meters. Elisha Williams set a personal best of 37.95 meters to finish tenth in the same event. In the mile run, freshman Cameron Lambert also set a personal record by finishing fourth overall with a time of 4:26.80.

Williams continued his performance in the shot put, earning seventh place with a mark of 14.47 meters, narrowly ahead of teammate Tazewell Rae who finished eighth at 14.40 meters.

VMI Director of Track and Field Zack Scott said, “Both the men and women showed resilience on Day 2, pushing through heavy rain that moved in midway and continuing to compete with purpose.”

Looking ahead, the Keydets will have two weeks to prepare for their next competition at the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships scheduled for May 11-12 at Western Carolina University.
