VMI defeated Norfolk State by a score of 15-5 at Gray-Minor Stadium, according to a May 12 announcement. The Keydets scored 13 runs in the first inning and went on to secure their 28th win of the season, marking the fifth-most victories in a single season for the program.

The team’s offensive performance was highlighted by several players. Ayden Schnarrs set a new VMI record for hit-by-pitches in a single season with his 26th after being plunked three times during the game. Cole Raile went three-for-five with a home run and five runs batted in, while Gabe Jenkins contributed three RBI, one hit, and a stolen base. Owen Prince recorded two hits and two RBI, reaching base multiple times along with Cole Cook who also scored twice.

Head Coach Sam Roberts achieved his most successful season to date with this victory. Roberts has now posted back-to-back seasons with at least 27 wins and recorded 26 wins in his first year as head coach.

Pitching contributions came from Peyton Dhein, who earned the win while allowing one earned run and striking out one batter. Tyler Bassett and Jim Douthat each struck out three batters across their respective innings pitched.

The Keydets are scheduled to close out their regular season against rival The Citadel starting Thursday in Lexington.
