VMI Baseball lost both games in a doubleheader against High Point University at Williard Stadium on April 26. The Keydets were swept in the series, with game one ending 12-6 and game two finishing 5-2 in favor of the Panthers.

The results mean VMI’s record now stands at 26 wins and 17 losses overall, with a conference record of three wins and nine losses. High Point improved to a season mark of 29 wins and 14 losses, including an eleven-win, four-loss record in the Big South Conference.

In the first game, VMI scored six runs from seven hits. Cole Raile hit two home runs and finished with four runs batted in and two runs scored. Ayden Schnarrs had two hits and stole two bases while Seth Buchanan crossed home plate twice. Owen Prince extended his on-base streak to tie a school record at forty-two games with a single. Andrew Jones recorded four strikeouts for VMI, while Grayson Fitzwater drew two walks.

Game one saw VMI take an early lead after Raile’s first home run but fall behind following a five-run inning by High Point that included a grand slam. The Keydets attempted to close the gap throughout the game but could not overcome errors or additional scoring by their opponents.

In game two, VMI managed six hits as Raile went two-for-three with a double. Gabe Jenkins contributed by hitting two doubles, Bradley Garner tripled for one run batted in, and Prince pushed his on-base streak further to forty-three games—a new single-season program best—by recording another base hit. Jim Douthat pitched three perfect innings in relief without allowing any hits or walks.

The Keydets will return home to Lexington for their next matchup against Longwood on Tuesday at six p.m.
