The No. 7 Virginia women’s tennis team will begin its participation in the 2026 NCAA Women’s Tennis Team Championship by hosting the Charlottesville Regional on Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3. The matches are scheduled at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort, with free admission for all attendees.

The event is significant as it marks Virginia’s 25th appearance in the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships and their eighth consecutive under head coach Sara O’Leary. It is also the program’s 13th time hosting a regional. The Cavaliers have advanced to the Round of 16 ten times, including each of the last five years, and reached the quarterfinals four times (2014, 2016, 2022, and 2024). This year, they enter as the No.7 seed.

On Saturday, Liberty will face Washington at 11 a.m., followed by Virginia taking on Saint Francis at 2 p.m. The second round match for women is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. Live streaming and live scoring will be available for all matches. The winner of this regional will advance to play against the winner from Baton Rouge Regional.

Several players have contributed notable performances this season: Freshman Kaitlyn Rolls leads with a dual match record of 16-5 and was named ACC Freshman of the Week three consecutive weeks; fifth-year Melodie Collard has won her last ten completed matches; sophomore Isabelle Lacy has a record of 22-7 overall; junior Vivian Yang achieved her twentieth win in her first season after transferring from Pepperdine; senior Annabelle Xu enters with a record of 19-9; sophomore Martina Genis Salas has rebounded from an early losing streak to win five out of her last six completed matches; junior Blanca Pico Navarro holds an undefeated mark playing on court six.

This weekend also marks first-time meetings between Virginia and Saint Francis, Liberty or Washington. Both Saint Francis and Liberty earned their first-ever bids to the NCAA Championship after winning their respective conference tournaments this season.
