The Virginia women’s golf team is tied for ninth place after the first 36 holes of the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championship on April 16 at Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The Cavaliers finished with a combined score of four-over-par 580, trailing Clemson by five strokes for the sixth and final match play position. Only the top six teams will advance to match play following three rounds of stroke play.
Jaclyn LaHa led Virginia with an opening-round score of 68 and ended the day tied for 14th individually at one-under-par 143. Freshman Remi Bacardi completed two rounds at two-over-par 146, tying for 35th place. First-year player Elsie MacCleery shot three-over-par 147 to tie for 41st, while sophomore Kennedy Swedick was tied for 46th at four-over-par 148.
Play is set to continue with the final round of stroke play on April 17. The top six teams from this stage will move forward to match play scheduled for Saturday, April 18.
Stanford currently leads the team competition at twenty-three-under-par, followed by Southern Methodist University and Duke who are both twelve-under-par. Other teams ahead include North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Clemson, North Carolina, and Miami.
