The Virginia women’s golf team will begin play at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional at UNC Finley Golf Course on May 11. The Cavaliers are seeded sixth in a field of twelve teams and will compete through May 13.
The event is significant as it offers an opportunity for teams to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which are scheduled to take place from May 22-27 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. The top five teams and the lowest-scoring individual not on an advancing team from each regional site will move forward to the national championship.
Virginia will be grouped with Kent State and Oklahoma State, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. from the tenth tee. Live scoring for the regional is available through Scoreboard powered by Clippd, and live coverage of all Division I regionals is provided by Babygrande Golf.
This year marks Virginia’s twentieth appearance in an NCAA Championship regional since its inaugural season in 2004. The Cavaliers have advanced to nationals fifteen times previously but have never won a regional title. Their best finishes include runner-up placements in 2022 and 2018, as well as third-place finishes most recently in Charlottesville last season. Notable past performances include Megan Propeck tying for fourth last year and Kennedy Swedick recording her career-best round.
The lineup representing Virginia consists of Jaclyn LaHa, Remi Bacardi, Kennedy Swedick, Mira Berglund, and Elsie MacCleery; Miranda Lu is listed as an alternate. LaHa was recently named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference team for her first time after achieving six top-10 finishes this season and earning medalist honors at the Terps Invitational.
Looking ahead, Virginia aims to secure another trip to nationals while continuing its tradition of strong postseason showings.
