Virginia announced on Apr. 27 that it will host the first and second rounds of both the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships for the sixth straight year. The matches are scheduled from Friday, May 1, through Sunday, May 3, at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.

The event is significant as it highlights Virginia’s continued role as a central venue for collegiate tennis tournaments. Both men’s and women’s teams have earned at-large bids into their respective championships with high seeds: No. 4 for men and No. 7 for women.

The men’s team (22-4) will face Rider (12-6) in their opening match on Friday at 3 p.m., following a match between Columbia (16-7) and St. John’s (17-6) at noon. The women’s team (21-5) will play Saint Francis (13-7) on Saturday at 2 p.m., after Liberty (16-9) meets Washington (19-5) earlier that day at 11 a.m.

This marks the Virginia men’s program’s twenty-second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship and its twenty-first time hosting a regional round. The Cavaliers have previously won six NCAA titles. For the women, this is their twenty-fifth overall appearance in the tournament and eighth straight under head coach Sara O’Leary.

Sixteen teams advancing from these rounds will compete in super regionals on May 8 or 9 on higher-seeded campuses; both Cavalier squads could host again if they progress further in the tournament brackets next weekend. Ultimately, eight super regional winners will move forward to Georgia’s Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens for quarterfinals through championship matches set for May 14–17.

Admission to all matches is free.
