The University of Virginia men’s lacrosse team will conclude its regular season against Drexel on April 24 at Klöckner Stadium, with the game set to begin at 2:30 p.m. The Cavaliers, currently ranked No. 12 and holding a record of 7-6, will also honor their fourth-year and graduate student-athletes during a Senior Day ceremony before the match.
The game is dedicated to the University of Virginia Gordie Center, which works to end hazing and substance misuse among students nationwide. A win for Virginia would ensure a winning record in regular-season play this year, improve their all-time series lead over Drexel to 19-1, extend their winning streak against the Dragons to thirteen games, and snap a two-game losing streak.
Historically, Virginia has dominated its meetings with Drexel. The teams first met in 1947; since then they have played annually from 2002 through 2018. The Cavaliers’ only loss came in an overtime game in Charlottesville in 2007. Their most recent meeting was during the 2024 season when Virginia won decisively by holding Drexel scoreless for more than thirty-seven minutes.
Drexel enters Friday’s contest with a strong record (9-4) and on a three-game win streak. Junior goaltender Brendan Donnelly leads both his conference and ranks twelfth nationally in goals-against average. Offensively, Witt Crawford and Alec Tulio are key contributors for the Dragons under second-year head coach Stephen Boyle.
Virginia’s last outing was an overtime loss against North Carolina despite rallying late in regulation to tie the game with one second left. Brothers Brendan Millon and McCabe Millon continue as standout performers; McCabe is among national leaders in assists and points while Brendan leads all Division I freshmen in those categories.
Looking ahead, Virginia will participate in the ACC Tournament held May 1 and May 3 at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
