Virginia Tech defeated Syracuse 12-1 in five innings in the regular season finale on May 3, powered by five home runs. The victory improved No. 13/17 Virginia Tech’s record to 44-9 overall and 18-6 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The game was notable as Kylie Aldridge hit the Hokies’ 100th home run of the season, marking a milestone for the team. Rachel Castine and Jordan Lynch each hit their third home run of the series, while Nora Abromavage also contributed with her 17th homer of the year.

Virginia Tech scored two runs in the third inning when Abromavage homered after an Addison Foster single. The Hokies then had a seven-run fourth inning highlighted by back-to-back solo home runs from Castine and Zoe Yaeger, followed by additional hits from Emma Mazzarone, Foster, Lynch, Michelle Chatfield, and Aldridge. In the fifth inning, Lynch added her team-leading 18th home run after singles from Gaby Mizelle and Annika Rohs.

Mazzarone, Avery Layton, and Sophie Kleiman combined to allow four hits with five strikeouts for Virginia Tech. All nine Hokie batters recorded at least one hit as part of a total of fourteen hits on the day.

The team has now swept back-to-back ACC opponents and is on a six-game winning streak. Virginia Tech’s forty-four regular season wins are its most since 2019. The program has reached at least one hundred home runs for four consecutive seasons.

Looking ahead, Virginia Tech secured the No. 3 seed in the ACC Softball Championship and will play again on Thursday against either Virginia or Pittsburgh.
