The Virginia men’s tennis team won 4-0 against Rider on May 1 to move forward to the second round of the 2026 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.

This victory means Virginia will next play Columbia at home on Saturday, May 2, with free admission for spectators. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Freshman Andres Santamarta Roig and senior Douglas Yaffa started doubles play with a 6-2 win on court two. Keegan Rice and Stiles Brockett followed up with another 6-2 victory on court three, securing the doubles point for Virginia. In singles matches, senior Måns Dahlberg earned a quick win with scores of 6-1, 6-1. No. 21 Keegan Rice then delivered a straight-set victory (6-0, 6-2) before No. 1 Dylan Dietrich clinched the overall match by winning his singles contest (6-2, 6-4).

According to tournament notes provided by Virginia Athletics, Virginia holds the No.4 seed in this year’s tournament and is ranked fifth in ITA team rankings. This match marked only their second meeting against Rider all-time; they are now undefeated in that matchup. Individual player records show Rice leads with a season record of 31 wins and five losses while Dietrich has improved his record to twenty wins out of twenty-one matches played on court one this spring.
