The Virginia men’s golf team was named the top seed at the Bermuda Run NCAA Regional in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, according to a May 6 announcement. The regional tournament is scheduled for May 18-20 at Bermuda Run Country Club.

This selection marks the Cavaliers’ 18th consecutive appearance at an NCAA Regional. The event is part of the opening stage of the 2026 NCAA Division I men’s golf championship, which features six regional tournaments across the country. The top five teams and lowest-scoring individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals held May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

Virginia enters the tournament ranked No. 2 nationally by Scoreboard powered by Clippd and recently won its second-straight Atlantic Coast Conference Championship after defeating Stanford in match play last month. Out of eleven tournaments this season, Virginia has finished first or second nine times and claimed five regular-season championships, tying a school record.

The Cavaliers are noted as being the only team to reach match play finals at Omni La Costa in each of the past three seasons and achieved a national runner-up finish last year—the best result in program history. All five players from last year’s national championship lineup—Paul Chang, Josh Duangmanee, Ben James, Bryan Lee and Maxi Puregger—return for this postseason run. Four players are currently ranked among the world’s top-50 amateurs: James (No. 2), Chang (No. 20), Duangmanee (No. 46) and Lee (No. 47). Ben James also holds No.1 ranking on PGA Tour University standings with top-five finishes in all nine events he has played this season.

The Bermuda Run Regional will be hosted by Wake Forest University and includes teams such as Ole Miss, Pepperdine, Georgia Tech and others seeded below Virginia.
