Virginia finished 11th after the final stroke play round of the 2026 NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, California, missing out on advancing to match play for a fourth consecutive year. The team needed to finish in the top eight but fell three strokes short of creating a five-way tie for seventh place on June 1.

Ben James secured a T-16 finish on the individual leaderboard and maintained his No. 1 ranking in PGA Tour University, earning his PGA Tour card for the remainder of the 2026 season and all of 2027. James became only the second player since PGA Tour University began in 2021 to hold the top spot every week during his senior season.

Graduate student Paul Chang ranked 13th and senior Bryan Lee finished 17th in PGA Tour University standings, which earned both players membership on PGA Tour Americas. Virginia was one of three schools with three players earning tour cards through this program.

James completed his collegiate career with a final round score of three-under-par (69), finishing five-under for the tournament. Lee posted a one-under-par (71) and tied for 28th place overall, marking his second-highest finish at an NCAA Championship. Chang and freshman Michael Lee each recorded rounds of one-over-par (73) during their final day.

Auburn won first place in stroke play at twenty-six under par, while Preston Stout from Oklahoma State claimed victory as NCAA individual champion at fourteen under par. Stanford and UCLA advanced to match play following a four-team playoff for two remaining spots.
