The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), in collaboration with Fairfax County and the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA), is seeking public input on a study evaluating potential improvements along Roberts Parkway. The area under review stretches from Fairfax County Parkway to Burke Centre Parkway.
VDOT has invited residents and travelers to participate in an online survey focused on enhancing roadway and pedestrian safety, maintaining traffic flow, and improving multimodal accessibility. The study will also consider the effects of future changes at the Fairfax County Parkway/Burke Centre Parkway intersection on Roberts Parkway.
Feedback collected through this survey will assist the study team in understanding current transportation issues in the corridor. It will also aid in developing recommendations for improvements, which will be shared during the next phase of the study, offering another opportunity for public feedback.
The survey is available until June 16 and includes a translation tool for various languages. Comments can also be sent via email to meetingcomments@vdot.virginia.gov or mailed to Ms. Regina Moore at VDOT’s office in Fairfax.
This initiative is part of the Project Pipeline program by the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB). The program aims to identify cost-effective solutions for multimodal transportation needs across Virginia. It is managed by Virginia’s Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment (OIPI) with support from VDOT and the Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT).
While this study does not set construction dates, it will recommend projects and strategies that could qualify for funding through programs like Smart Scale, Revenue Sharing, and the Virginia Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), as well as other regional and local sources. Completion of this study is anticipated by summer 2026.
